What You’ll Cover

Breezin’ Thru® Composing offers sequential learning and supports educational standards for Grades 5-12. The structured and immensely engaging lessons can also be enjoyed alone at home by students of any age.

A thrill in every chapter. With each of the 15 chapters building on each other, students learn in small fun nuggets and become wizzes in no time. It’s a breeze – and it’s a blast!

You will be amazed at the fabulous music that you and your students will create!

The Composers Journey

Breezin’ Thru Composing takes you
on an exciting compositional journey.

The focus is on melodic development. From there students incorporate other compositional elements. This way, students create their own music and develop their own melodies, rather than just playing with pre-scripted loops in GarageBand or harmonizing an existing melody.

The higher you go, the more
sophisticated it gets.
The thrill of creating and hearing your own music is there from the start!

A Basic Motif & Melody

Easy Variation to Existing Melody (Simple Arrangements)

Creating New Melodies (Simple)

More Advanced Variations (Arrangement, Harmony)

Musical Applications (Movies, Songwriting)

Compositional Concepts

Students start with melodic development then incorporate other elements such as rhythm, harmony and arrangement, building important compositional knowledge as they go.

Each chapter also highlights a “theory link” that is applied to student compositions – making meaningful connections between theory and creating real music. This refresher gives students enough to get going. If you’re looking for theory mastery, we encourage students to complete the corresponding chapter in Breezin’ Thru Theory.
